When linking to other websites, it is often desirable to link text instead of pasting the full URL in the text field.

Linking Text to a Website

  1. Copy the full URL of the external webpage you wish to link.

  2. On the page you’re working on, select the word(s) that will become the hyperlink.

    <aside> 💡

    It is a best practice to link text that describes the website you are linking to. For accessibility purposes, we don’t recommend saying “click here” as that phrase is not descriptive of what you are linking to.

  3. Click on the Link button in the toolbar (represented by the chain link icon).

  1. Paste the URL into the Link URL field, click on the option that populates in the dropdown, and select Insert.

  1. You’ll know the hyperlink was successfully added when the selected text is underlined and a different color than the main text.

Removing a Link

If you wish to remove the hyperlink, click on the link in the editor, then press the Unlink button, represented by the chain with a small ‘x’ icon.
