When users present on your Clean Catalog site should no longer have access to log in and create/edit content, there are two primary methods of removing the account.

Blocking the user

Blocking the user account leaves the user present in the system, but prevents the user from logging in. This is the recommended method of removing a user’s access, as it leaves their email intact on page authored by information and on revision logs.

Catalog Admins have permissions out of the box to change the status of users from Active to Blocked. This process can be reversed.

To block a user, navigate to MangePeople, click Edit next to the desired user, and change the status to Blocked, then press the Save button. If you do not see the People tab, email [email protected] so we can update your permissions.

Cancelling the user account

Cancelling the user account entirely wipes that user from the system so they can no longer log in, and it assigns all content they created to the “Anonymous” user. Additionally, any content they edited will now show that it was edited by the “Anonymous” user. This can often be undesirable due to the removing of historical user data across the catalog. Note that content created by the cancelled user account will still exist.

If the user account that you desire to cancel never created or edited any content, then it is reasonably safe to cancel that account entirely.

If you understand the consequences of cancelling a user account entirely but would still like to proceed with cancelling user account(s), please send the email addresses of the user accounts that you would like cancelled to [email protected] and we will cancel those accounts on your behalf. There is no reversing this process once it has happened.
