One customization we offer on our catalog sites is the ability to schedule what day and time content will be published. This feature is popular among clients who routinely require changes to be implemented on content at a later date than when the content is being worked on. For example, if you have availability to work on content changes on Monday, but the changes do not go into effect until Friday, you can schedule the content to be published for viewing by the general public at midnight on Friday.

One option is to be able to schedule content publishing on a per-node basis. This means each individual page of content, be it a text page, degree, or course, can be scheduled for publication (or archival) on different days/times.

In a setup like this, find the desired page, go to the Edit screen, then adjust the scheduling options (these may be at the bottom of the page or in an accordion on the right). Be sure to hit Save.

You can then go to Manage → Content → Scheduled Content to view a list of all content scheduled to be published or unpublished.

Another option is to have the ability to schedule content publishing on a per-content-type basis. This means all text pages, degrees, or courses will update at once.

If your institution has this type of setup, there are two steps you need to follow to schedule content publishing:

  1. First, set the publishing dates by going to Configuration → Content authoring → Publishing dates, make necessary adjustments to the dates and times, and hit Save configuration.

If you change the bulk publishing date after assigning content to it, all content scheduled for the original date will automatically update to the new date.
